What is Human Resource Management ?
Human Resource Management is
the method of recruiting, selecting, inducting employees, providing
orientation, imparting training and development, appraising the performance
of employees, deciding compensation and providing benefits, motivating
employees, maintaining proper relations with employees and their trade unions,
ensuring employees safety, welfare and health measures in observance with labor
laws of the land.
Currently, HRM is not only restricted to helpful
role in the organizational functioning but in reality it is taking a guide in
developing strategic and competitive edge by being involved in making strategic
decisions.
Characteristics of
HRM
· Strategic nature: - A
long-term, strategic view of human resources, contrasting with earlier ad-hoc,
reactive approaches.
· Organizational structure: - Flexible with core of key employees surrounded by peripheral
shells.
· Recruitment: -
Sophisticated recruitment for all employees strong internal labor market for
core employees.
· Training and Development: - Learning of organizational culture.
· Organization of the HR
function: - Largely integrated into line management for day-to-day HR issues.
· Service function:
- HRM is not a profit centre. It provides all other functional
departments. But the basic responsibility always lies with the line managers.
The HR Manager has line power only within his own department, but has staff
power as far as other departments are concerned.
· It is pervasive:
- Development of HRM covers all levels and all categories of people, and
management and operational staff. No discrimination is made between any levels
or categories. All those who are managers have to perform HRM. It is pervasive
also because it is required in every department of the organization. All kinds
of organizations, profit or non-profit making, have to follow HRM.

DeleteGreat article. Indeed HRM, is defined as the process of managing employees in a company and it can involve hiring, firing, training and motivating employees. Which in another sense means it directly affect to the turnover rate of an organization as well.

I think that HR personnel should also look into important terms like key employee definition 2020. This will help employers to undertake nondiscriminatory testing for adjustments in HSA plans.
